Campus Ministry mourns the death yesterday evening (June 12) of our beloved Sister Therese Duross of the Religious of the Assumption Sisters.

In most organizations, the last day of a workshop is reserved for key orientations and a closing ceremony. This time, the PGC did not follow this logic by including in the day’s program a time of information on plans to open or close communities in the medium term, attentive to the ongoing reflections of the Provincial Councils.

The second PGC is drawing to a close. But the members are not yet thinking of resting. After the Eucharist on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, work continued as usual. They focused on the Development and Solidarity Bureau (BDS) and the opening and closing of communities.

The day’s agenda included reflection on the criteria for foundation in a new country, the approval of formators, and first apostolic appointments. An exchange with the President of Assumption University followed.

Assumption University’s SEND Immersion/Mission Trip to El Paso, Texas and the Larger Context of Immigration at the U.S./Mexico Border.

Two topics were on Wednesday’s agenda: mobilizing works and the Superior General’s first letter to the Congregation.

Before listening to a report on the mission of a group of Assumption University students and teachers to migrants in El Paso, the PGC continued its reflection on formation and the economic situation of the Congregation as a whole.

The PGC session is always marked by a day of relaxation and conviviality. PGC members took advantage of Sunday to explore Boston.

In anglo-saxon societies, the custom of what is called “the English week” is to begin the weekly rest on Friday evening. The PGC has chosen to break with this custom, but with no hidden scorn for American culture. Progress had to be made if we wanted to “go one step further”.
