The Triduum is Celebrated in Jerusalem

For the celebration of the Triduum, the Catholic communities of Jerusalem meet each of the three days in a different church. The Good Friday service takes place at the Church of the Flagellation, in what was the ancient Roman Praetorium, and the Easter Vigil is at St. Ann’s, a very beautiful Crusader-built church. Holy Thursday is celebrated here, at St. Peter in Gallicantu. Our church filled with people from what seemed like all the countries of the world! The service was in French, the homily in American English and the music was provided by a group of enthusiastic Africans.
After the mass, a number of the participants walked from St. Peter’s to the Garden of Gethsemane, to recall Jesus’ night there in prayer before his arrest…
