The PGC session is always marked by a day of relaxation and conviviality. PGC members took advantage of Sunday to explore Boston.
In anglo-saxon societies, the custom of what is called “the English week” is to begin the weekly rest on Friday evening. The PGC has chosen to break with this custom, but with no hidden scorn for American culture. Progress had to be made if we wanted to “go one step further”.
The second PGC of this mandate is being held in the Province of North America, at Assumption University in Worcester (USA). With all members present since yesterday, with the exception of the Provincial of Africa and the Vice-Provincial of East Africa, the PGC opened this morning, May 30, in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption University, with the Eucharist presided over by Father Chi Ai, Provincial of North America.
The work of the PGC resumed this morning with the Mass for the Feast of the Visitation, during which Fr. Fabien Lejeusne, Provincial of Europe, reminded the participants of the importance of encounters in the Christian life.
The Plenary Council of the congregation visited downtown Boston and the Assumptionist Center in Brighton. The visit began with Evening Prayer followed by a social and delicious dinner prepared by Fr. Dinh and his team.
Our guests from all of our provinces from around the world and leadership from Rome were welcomed to the parish by the local community, Lay Assumptionists and parishioners for the Saturday Vigil Mass which was followed by dinner in the Parish Center.
