The Baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 PM this Saturday, May 17 in the Plourde Center. This Mass, in which we thank God for the blessings bestowed on the Class of 2025 and invoke God’s blessings on our graduates as they enter the next chapter in their lives, is open to all.

Imagine gathering with fellow seekers on Sundays, immersed in the Gospel’s transformative message. At the Assumptionist center in Brighton, this is exactly what happens. Led by Brother Aloysius and Jesuit Deacon David, alongside Brothers Baraka and Hugo, Provincial Secretary Monica, and a vibrant group of young people from St. Columbkille parish.

At Emmanuel House Formation Center in Nairobi, Kenya — a mission of the Assumptionists — theology is not only studied, it is lived. Here, religious brothers are formed spiritually and practically, including through hands-on work in agriculture.

As our Assumptionist community celebrates the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV, an Augustinian Pope, we are filled with joy and gratitude. The Pope’s humble introduction of himself as “a son of Saint Augustine, an Augustinian” resonates deeply with our own Augustinian roots.

Chamnong Michelle Omiecki, a Thai-American Buddhist, has been a vital part of the Assumption community in Brighton for over 11 years, serving as a cook and sharing her warmth and kindness with everyone. Her dedication and hard work have earned her appreciation and respect from the community.

The bells of Assumption’s bell tower rang out this afternoon as the announcement was made: “Habemus Papam!” Pope Leo XIV is the second Pope from the Americas and the first Augustinian Pope. He received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his first graduate degree in Theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.

May is a very special month. It is filled with fresh breezes, colorful blossoms, warm weather, and signs in abundance of new beginnings. The landscape is changing each day with different kinds of green and a variety of floral colors. It is a perfect time to celebrate life and all the beauty of the earth that spring brings.

Members of the Class of 2025 are invited to a Senior Celebration this Sunday, May 4 from 3 to 5 PM in the Tinsley Campus Ministry Center. The celebration will begin with a reflection on “What is Life after Assumption?,” followed by a celebration feast.

Pope Francis’ legacy has profoundly impacted my Assumptionist vocation, inspiring me to embody the values of mercy, compassion, and joy. His words and actions have guided me in my spiritual, human, community, and theological formation.
