The Assumptionists’ community in El Paso is happy to welcome father Chi Ai, Provincial Superior for his visit. In fact, this Assumptionists’ community in El Paso is in charge of two parishes, St Francis Xavier and Guardian Angel. So, Father Chi Ai is lodged at Guardian angels Church, since there are rooms for visitors in that site.
It should be noted that, after his arrival, on December 19, Father Chi Ai attended morning mass at St Francis Xavier and was presented to the Christians by father Peter. With great joy he was welcomed by parishioners.
And in the evening Father Chi Ai attended another mass at Guardian Angel. Immediately after mass he has participated to Posada organized by the Church. At the end of Posada, there was a meal. So, it was also the time for sharing. Parishioners spoke their mind. They expressed their joy of having Assumptionists to serve their community. Since they spent a time without pastors. So they were feeling like lost and abandoned. The presence of Assumptionists is considered like divine providence. They really appreciate the work of Assumptionists, because they were on the ground and now they have new breath.
To say the truth, the sharing was about unity, fraternity, hospitality and mutual collaboration. In his address, father Chi Ai encouraged the community to stay united and showed international aspect of the Congregation as a witness to the Gospel. Priests who are in charge of Guardian Angel, are different form one another. Since they have different backgrounds, they are from different cultures and countries but they form one community. So, in Jesus, we have to be one family, said Father Chi Ai in his allocution.
All in all, it was a great pleasure for father Chia Ai and the Christians to share the time together for the sake of the Kingdom.
