On Sunday, January 30th, the Catholic Vietnamese community from all over the state gathered for Mass followed by a special celebration marking the Lunar New Year. Fr. Dinh Votran, A.A., who offers Mass in Vietnamese for the Vietnamese Catholics in Maine at the Cathedral each month offered the Mass at 4PM, which included a special offertory procession. Vietnamese Catholics traveled from around the entire state of Maine, from as far north as St. Agatha – more than 5 hours drive!

During the reception that followed the Mass, the community came together to share traditional food and games in celebration of the New Year. Celebrations included a traditional dragon dance and of course, karaokee!
