Assumptionists Celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Candelaria

This Wednesday, February 2, we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Candelaria, during the Celebration, Father Rodel Cervantes blessed the images of Child God.

The Feast of the Candelaria is celebrated in remembrance of the biblical passage of the Presentation of the Child Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem (Lc 2;22-39) and the purification of the Virgin Mary after delivery, to fulfill the prescription of the Law of Ancient Te Statement (Lev 12;1-8). The feast is known and celebrated with various names: the Presentation of the Lord, the Purification of Mary, the Feast of Light and the Feast of Candles; all these names express the meaning of the feast. Christ, the Light of the world presented by His Mother in the Temple, comes to illuminate everyone like a candle or candles, from where the name of Candelaria derives.
