As the Assumptionists at St. Columbkille Parish, we embarked on a profound journey of faith during Holy Week, reflecting on the significance of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Our celebration began on Palm Sunday, where we commemorated Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and into our hearts, symbolizing our own welcoming of Christ into our lives.
On Holy Thursday, Father Steven led us in a meaningful reflection on the commandment of love, the priesthood, and the Eucharist, inviting us to deepen our understanding of these sacred institutions. We were reminded of the importance of love and service in our lives as followers of Christ.
Good Friday brought a powerful celebration of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, led by the Archbishop of Boston, Richard Garth Henning, who accompanied the Latino community with a beautiful homily. He invited us to reflect on our connection with Jesus through suffering, and the Latino youth movingly performed the Stations of the Cross around the parish.
Holy Saturday’s Easter Vigil was a night of celebration and new beginnings, as some received their sacraments for the first time. And on Resurrection Sunday, our joy was palpable as we gathered to celebrate the risen Jesus, experiencing the transformative power of his love and resurrection.
Through this Holy Week journey, we were reminded of the significance of faith, love, and community. May the lessons we’ve learned and the experiences we’ve shared guide us in our walk with Christ throughout the year.
