For more than a century, the Augustinians of the Assumption – the Assumptionists – have accompanied communities across Africa through evangelization, education, social action, and healthcare. At the heart of this mission is a simple conviction: faith must be lived in service to others, especially those whose needs are greatest.
In Kenya, that commitment is carried forward at St. Monica Healthcare – Mwengenye. Located in Njiru, Nairobi, the facility provides essential health services to local families, with particular care for mothers, children, and people facing financial hardship. Each consultation, treatment, and act of welcome reflects the Assumptionist call to uphold the dignity of every person.
CARE THAT REACHES THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST
For vulnerable families, access to reliable healthcare can change the course of a life. St. Monica Healthcare seeks to remain a trusted place where patients are received with compassion and can obtain timely, dignified care close to home. Strengthening the facility will help its team respond more effectively to maternal and child health needs, routine examinations, urgent cases, and the everyday health concerns of the wider community.
BUILDING THE CAPACITY TO SERVE
The facility is seeking donor support for critical medical equipment, dependable infrastructure, and improvements to its clinical environment. Current priorities include:
• A portable ultrasound machine for accessible diagnostic imaging
• Digital blood pressure machines for accurate patient monitoring
• A neonatal incubator/NBO machine to support newborn care
• Improved generator and electrical systems for reliable service
• Renovations that create a safer, more effective clinical space
