St. Andrew’s Day at San Andrés Parish

A Celebration of Faith and Community

San Andrés Parish in Mexico City marked the Feast of St. Andrew, their patron saint, with profound devotion. The celebration was preceded by a nine-day novena in which the community decorated the entire church with flowers and gathered each evening for Mass. This shared period of prayer prepared everyone spiritually for the feast on November 30.

Our Assumptionist Mission in Action

At San Andrés Parish, our mission is lived through presence, accompaniment, and daily involvement with the people we serve. Our commitment is expressed not only through pastoral responsibilities but through walking closely with families, supporting traditions, and nurturing a strong faith community throughout the year. Celebrations like this reveal how our charism takes life in the heart of the parish.

Fr. Peter Omoyo’s Experience

Fr. Peter Omoyo, one of our Assumptionists originally from Kenya, shared how meaningful this celebration was for him. The novena, the unity of the parish, and the enthusiasm of the people reflected a faith that is lived vibrantly. As he continues learning Spanish and embracing Mexican culture, he recognizes how deeply the community is shaping his ministry. His experience reflects our calling to cross borders, learn through encounter, and let faith grow through shared life.

A Reflection of Our Charism

The St. Andrew’s Day celebration revealed a parish strengthened by tradition, unity, and mission. The novena, the floral decorations, and the involvement of the entire community demonstrated a living expression of faith rooted in culture. For us as Assumptionists, this celebration affirms our mission to foster communion, accompany communities, and witness the Gospel in meaningful ways.
