On the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Province of the Religious of the Assumption stands with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) as it reflects on nearly 300 years of presence, service, and leadership in the United States.
Since arriving in Philadelphia in 1919 to establish the first Assumption foundation in the United States, we have shared in the broader movement of women religious in this country, responding with the grace of our charism and the power of the Gospel to the needs of those we encounter.
In a spirit of prayer, discernment, and fidelity to the values that have inspired women religious in the United States since 1727, we join LCWR in making this Declaration of Commitment.
