Campus Ministry mourns the death yesterday evening (June 12) of our beloved Sister Therese Duross of the Religious of the Assumption Sisters. Sister Therese, pictured above in a recent picture and below in a picture from 1960, was 97 years old and became a Religious of the Assumption Sister in 1951. She spent much of the last 45 years in Worcester and, for most of those years, lived near the Assumption University campus on Old English Road. At Assumption, she served as a campus minister, Theology teacher, and trustee, and she was a familiar face in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and other places on campus until just a few days before her death.
Sister Therese died, appropriately enough, during Evening Prayer, having just recited these words from Psalm 62: “God alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not fall. My deliverance and honor are with God, my strong rock; my refuge is with God.” May God’s angels and saints welcome this good and faithful servant.
Funeral plans for Sister Therese are incomplete and will be announced later. Please keep Sister Therese in your prayers, along with her Sisters in the Religious of the Assumption in the United States who are also mourning the death on June 2 of Sister Diane Wauters in Philadelphia.
