Julie A. Glavin, 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 26th, in the Bay State Medical Center, Springfield, after a long illness.
Julie was raised in Worcester, the daughter of the late Charles and Christine (Cavanaugh) Glavin. She leaves her sister, Margaret M. ‘Peggy’ Glavin; her brother, Michael T. Glavin and his wife Mary; nephews, a niece and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles J. Glavin, Jr. and her sister, Patricia M. Glavin.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. She received her bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College and her master’s degree from Assumption College.
Julie had a long career in higher education. She was the former Dean of Students at Pine Manor College and worked in development at several other schools. After retiring, Julie worked for many years as the office manager of St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish in Sturbridge.
Julie was an avid reader from a young age and very talented at needlepoint. She loved spending time on Cape Cod and remained very close with her long-time college friends.
A funeral Mass for Julie will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, at 11:00am in St. Anne Church, 16 Church St., Sturbridge. A calling hour in the church will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, from 10:00 to 11:00am, prior to the Mass. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Great Barrington, MA, will be held at a later date.
