Again, in line with the Chapter’s orientations, the PGC has been working on the same process in the Province of Europe in connection with the Vicariates of West Africa and Asia-Oceania. Above all, the members of the PGC express their gratitude to the two Vicars recently appointed for their willingness to render this noble service to the Congregation. They are Fathers François Hanh (Vicar of Asia-Oceania) and Vivien Dokoui (Vicar of West Africa). They are also very grateful for the loyal service of Fathers Pierre Khue in Asia-Oceania and Georges Houssou in West Africa.
It’s a fact that the Province is giving the development of these two congregational realities the necessary attention and seriousness. The machinery has already been set in motion by a synodal process that began with a consultation of religious and culminated in discernment by the Provincial and Province Councils. These consultations have shown that, since the General Chapter, the two Vicariates have undergone remarkable development. There has been a clear consolidation of fraternal life and a real concern to deepen the charism. Each Vicariate is equipped with a complete formation program, and typically Assumptionist apostolates are gradually taking shape. The remarkable strides made in terms of animation, government and leadership cannot be overlooked.
It is important to point out, however, that certain challenges remain: the need to strengthen the preparation of the animators of these structures, the implementation of self-financing mechanisms, the pursuit of the creation of specific apostolic works and the work on the sense of unity within the Vicariates.
We will be continuing our discussions over the coming days, so that by the end of the PGC, the latter will have decided on a roadmap for the continuation of the current process…
