About mobilizing works…

Following the work carried out in the General Chapter and during the last PGCs, as you know, we currently have six works recognized as mobilizing works for the congregation: Bayard; the Saint-Pierre-Saint-André Center in Bucharest (Romania); Assumption University in Worcester; the University of the Assumption in Congo-DRC; the Network of Schools in Tulear (Madagascar); and the Notre-Dame de Salut Pilgrimage Work.

The new steps, according to the last General Chapter, consist in gradually implementing “Assumption Committees” to accompany its works where they do not yet exist, but also in better integrating these works into the animation of the various apostolic sectors of the congregation: Media, Education, JPIC, Pilgrimages, etc. In addition, the CGO wished to review the PGC evaluation form for these works and move from an annual evaluation schedule to a less frequent schedule, depending on needs. That is why we focused this time on only two works: the St. Peter and St. Andrew Center and the Network of Schools in Southern Madagascar (bush schools and college). The provincials shared with us the encouraging aspects of these works, the challenges they face, and the call to the Congregation to continue to support them.

The PGC is also a good place to enlighten each other in discernment and decisions to be made in certain delicate situations. We took the time to reflect together on two particular situations presented by the provincials. The end of the day was devoted to some more technical questions concerning the files and follow-up of the brothers in formation.
