On Saturday, January 22, the Catholic Church in the United States will observe the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. While concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic led to the decision not to send members of the Assumption community to the March for Life which will be held in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 21, the University’s Advocates for Life group will be watching a live-stream of the Cardinal O’Connor Conference on Life from Georgetown University on January 22.
As part of our prayer for nurturing respect for all human life, all members of the Assumption community are invited to participate in Assumption’s annual Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for the protection of unborn children in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on Friday, January 21. The time of prayer will begin with Morning Prayer at 8:00 AM, and Exposition will begin at 8:30 AM. Exposition will end with Benediction at 4:30 PM, followed by Mass at 5:00 PM and Evening Prayer at 5:35 PM. You are invited to sign up for one or more 30-minute blocks of prayer time during Exposition by clicking on the button below. You can also sign up on the sheet at the back of the Chapel.

Prayer for Giving Thanks to God for the Gift of Human Life
God our Creator,
we give thanks to you,
who alone have the power to impart the breath of life
as you form each of us in our mother’s womb;
grant, we pray,
that we, whom you have made stewards of creation,
may remain faithful to this sacred trust
and constant in safeguarding the dignity of every human life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
