Reflection inspired by the writings of Bro. Daniele Caglioni, A.A.
Growing as a Missionary Community
Day two of the International Missionaries Session invited the brothers to reflect on what it means to live as a missionary community today. The day began with a meditation by Fr. Joao Gomes, A.A., of the General Council in Rome, who emphasized that formation is essential in preparing young religious for missionary life. A key theme was fraternal correction—learning to grow through dialogue, challenges, and even conflict. Echoing Pope Francis, the reflection reminded participants that conflict can become a doorway to deeper communion and shared growth when lived in the spirit of the Gospel.
Living Among the People
The discussions also explored the realities of adapting to new languages and cultures. Missionaries are called to live closely with the people they serve, becoming the ‘leaven of the Gospel’ through humble service, faithful preaching, and the witness of their daily lives. Participants also expressed gratitude for the support offered by members of the Lay Alliance in mission.
Listening Before Offering Answers
The afternoon focused on personal missionary testimonies. Brothers shared their journeys of faith and vocation, reminding everyone that authentic understanding begins by listening. One of the highlights was Bro. Daniele Caglioni, A.A., who shared his own missionary journey on the tenth anniversary of his First Vows, giving thanks to God for His faithfulness throughout his years of religious life and mission.
Walking Together in Synodality
Each day concludes with a communal evaluation of the session, seeking ways to improve the shared experience. This ongoing reflection reflects the spirit of synodality: walking together, listening to one another, and remaining open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than simply completing an agenda.
Looking Ahead
This reflection is based on the writings of Bro. Daniele Caglioni, A.A., whose personal insights continue to inspire this missionary journey. This is Day 2 of our International Missionaries Session in Tanzania. Stay tuned as we continue sharing daily reflections and highlights from Day 3 and the days ahead.
