Fr. Luc Martel led an Advent Retreat, focusing on three parts: Biblical, Father D’Alzon and Saint Augustine.
Regarding the Biblical, Fr. stressed how this new liturgical year is a time for reflection, and how we should have a spirt of great expectation.
Regarding our founder, Fr. said that Fr. D’Alzon’s expectations are challenges to us, and how we need to reflect on his questions (the examen.)
Regarding Saint Augustine, we focused on his conversion experience.
Father Luc talked about the fascinating people that we encounter in Advent. The Lay Assumptionists had lunch with the Priests at 50 Old English, which was a rich experience for all.
Finally, this was a quote from Father Martel: I pray that you have a little more time for a fruitful reflection with D’Alzon and Augustine. And that during this Advent season you unite yourselves to our ancestors in that great CRY – O Come Emmanuel – and make of us men and women of great expectations, great desires, great dreams and great ideas all for service to the mission to which we have been called. We hope and rejoice because as Isaiah prophesied: God will never forget us.
