Charity – Kids in the Congo visiting Schools and Parishes run by the Assumptionists in Africa
By Lynne Brouillette
Radek and I have finally arrived in Congo on November 4, 2024. This is a view from my room. It is a long journey and the ride from Uganda was 11 hours over very rough terrain. We are at about 2,000 ft elevation, but we traveled through the Rift Valley and up through the Great Divide at 5,000 ft. The views were breathtaking. After an icy shower (no hot water here) and a delicious meal of freshly prepared vegetables and beef, it was lights out for me. I am excited as the real work begins today.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is the 11th largest country in the world. Just like the US it has many different regions and climates. Butembo where we are currently is located in the eastern part of the country along the border of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
