Campus Ministry is delighted to introduce Una Murphy as the University’s new campus minister! Una, who completed a Master of Theology and Ministry degree at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry in December 2023, began her work at Assumption on August 1. She joins returning campus ministers Deacon Paul Covino (director), Dr. Jonathan Bezdegian and Br. Elmer Vergara, A.A. The other members of this year’s Campus Ministry team are InterVarsity Christian Fellowship representative Scott Brill, Graduate Assistant Alex Boligan, Minister in Residence Deidre Fleming and Administrative Assistant Sandy Bousquet.
Una’s ministry experience includes interfaith hospital chaplaincy, grief support, prison ministry, Ignatian spirituality, immigration, adoption and parenting support, support for pregnant women, and Bible study. Welcome Una!
Celebrating Assumption’s Patronal Feast on August 15
The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Roman Catholic holyday of obligation and the patronal feast of Assumption University, will be celebrated on Thursday, August 15. Chapel services will be Morning Prayer at 8 AM, Mass at 12 Noon and Evening Prayer at 5:35 PM
On the Solemnity of the Assumption, “we profess our belief that Mary has gone before us, body and soul, into heaven. For her, the resurrection of the dead has taken place already. And thus the Assumption is technically an ‘Easter feast.’” (Companion to the Calendar, Second Edition, Liturgy Training Publications).
