A Gift That Inspires Learning
Thanks to the initiative of Dr. Magalie Torres Rowe, who is currently serving in Nairobi as an Assumptionist volunteer, and through the generosity of several donors, the school received a number of chess sets. This thoughtful gift has opened new opportunities for students to learn, think creatively, and enjoy healthy competition together.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Chess is much more than a game. It helps students improve memory, strengthen problem-solving skills, increase concentration, think strategically, and practice patience, discipline, and self-control. These qualities support not only academic success but also personal growth and responsible leadership.
A School United in Friendly Competition
To celebrate this generous gift, the school organized a chess tournament involving five teams so that every student could participate. The competition began with preliminary rounds before moving to the semifinals and finals. At the end of the tournament, the winning team was recognized along with the top two male players and the top two female players.
Forming Hearts and Minds
The tournament brought students together in a joyful spirit of friendship and community. As they encouraged one another and challenged themselves, they also strengthened confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking. These moments reflect the mission of Catholic education: forming young people intellectually, spiritually, and socially so they may serve others with wisdom and compassion.
