Faith on Campus: Assumptionist Ministry at the University of Nairobi, Kenya

About the Speaker

Dr. Michael Mwareri Wangai is a Senior Quality Assurance Officer at the University of Nairobi and a dedicated Lay Assumptionist volunteer. Working closely with us, he has helped accompany and form university students, bringing God into academic spaces and supporting our mission of faith formation across Africa.

Our Mission in East Africa

For more than twenty years, the Assumptionists have been committed to forming faith where Africa’s future is shaped — in universities, schools, and parishes. Through accompaniment, sacramental life, and community, we help young people rediscover God and grow in a living faith.

Where We Serve in Kenya

Along the Kenyan Coast, we serve in the Archdiocese of Mombasa at Bura Shrine and Kamtonga Parish, with growing pastoral opportunities in Shimoni and Ramisi near the Indian Ocean. Further north, the Diocese of Malindi has welcomed our presence near Watamu.

Why This Work Matters

The young people we accompany go on to become teachers, professionals, and leaders across Kenya, carrying the Gospel into families and communities. This is how faith is multiplied — through formation, not noise.
