Annual Retreat in Butembo-Beni

Annual Retreat in Butembo - Beni

The Augustinians of the Assumption in the Congo held their annual retreat in Butembo-Beni, wrapping up on Friday, July 26, 2024. For a week, they focused on “Vulnerability, Mourning, and Figures of Hope.”

Father Kambale Tsongo Pacifique, A.A., a Congolese from the North American Province community in Quebec City, Canada, led the discussions, sharing insights about the tough times faced by people in Eastern DRC due to ongoing conflict. Despite these challenges, the people remain hopeful and keep moving forward, believing in a brighter future.

At the retreat’s end, the participants attended a special Mass led by Father Beaudouin Ngogha Ya Tshihemba, the General Father of the Augustinians. He encouraged everyone to be “sowers of the future” by choosing the right seeds, being patient, and staying vigilant.

During the Mass, 38 Augustinian brothers, mainly philosophy students, renewed their vows for the year, embracing their commitment and hope for the future.
