Assumption High School in Nairobi is about to get something very special — a brand-new playground. This is not just any playground. It is a place where children will play safely, laugh with their friends, and grow together. It will be a place where joy and learning meet, right in the heart of the school.
This dream is becoming real because of the hard work of Assumptionist volunteer, Magalie Torres-Rowe. With her dedication and the kindness of friends and supporters from Peru, Mexico, and the United States, more than $7,100 was collected through a raffle and donations. Out of this amount, $2,900 is being used to build the new playground for the students.
For the young people of Assumption High School, the playground is more than just swings and slides. It is a safe space to run, to share moments with friends, and to take a break from the challenges of daily life. It reminds us that education is not only about books and classrooms, but also about creating balance, health, and happiness in every child’s life.
The good news is that the groundwork for the playground has already started. Soon, students will enjoy a beautiful new space where they can play, move freely, and build memories that will stay with them forever.
The money raised is not only helping with the playground. The remaining funds are being used for other meaningful projects too. These include buying beds and cabinets for the local dispensary, and providing hygienic pads for young girls. These efforts are just as important, and we will share more updates about them very soon.
This new playground is a clear sign of what we can do when we come together as a community. It is proof that when people believe in a common goal, real change happens. The students of Assumption High School will now have a joyful and supportive environment that encourages both learning and play.
We want to thank every single person who helped make this possible. Whether you bought a raffle ticket, made a donation, or simply gave your encouragement, you are part of this achievement. Your generosity — along with the leadership of Magalie Torres-Rowe — is making a lasting difference in the lives of these children in Nairobi.
