Gathered Beyond Distance
At the Assumptionist General House in Rome, a special gathering brought together Filipino men and women religious from across different congregations. Around 65 members from 26 communities came together in one place — not simply to attend an event, but to reconnect with one another in a meaningful way. Though they come from different missions and backgrounds, there was a shared sense of belonging that filled the space. Being far from home did not create distance; instead, it strengthened the bond they all carry through their vocation.
A Presence That Stayed
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle. His presence brought a quiet sense of joy and reflection to the gathering. But what stood out most was not only the celebration itself. He remained with the group even after the Eucharist — listening, speaking, and spending time with the community. It was a simple gesture, yet it made the gathering feel more personal and grounded.
More Than Just an Event
What stayed with many was not the number of people present, but the conversations that unfolded. Stories were shared, experiences were exchanged, and a renewed sense of purpose quietly took shape. This gathering became more than a scheduled moment. It served as a reminder that even when people are far from their home country, they are never alone in their calling. There is always a community to walk with. In the end, it was a simple but meaningful experience — one that reminded everyone what it truly means to belong, to serve, and to continue the journey together.
