Assumption Prep alumni return to Worcester and reflect on the friendships, faith, and Assumptionist spirit that continue to shape their lives.
More Than Five Decades Later
More than fifty years have passed since the Classes of 1970 and 1971 walked the halls of Assumption Prep, but the memories remain remarkably close. When former students gathered again in Worcester, the reunion became more than a chance to revisit a familiar place. It was an opportunity to remember the people, experiences, and values that helped shape who they became.
As alumni shared stories from their school years, one theme returned again and again: gratitude. They spoke about friendships formed during their time at Assumption Prep, the sense of community they experienced, and the lasting influence of an education rooted in Catholic faith and service.
Guided by the Assumptionist Spirit
For many former students, the Assumptionist priests and brothers were an important part of everyday life at the school. Their presence extended beyond the classroom. Through teaching, faith, discipline, encouragement, and example, they helped students understand that education was not only about academics, but also about character, responsibility, and how one chooses to live.
“The years have passed, but the friendships, faith, and Assumptionist spirit remain.”
A Choice That Continued to Matter
Looking back, alumni reflected on how meaningful it was to have chosen Assumption Prep. The lessons learned there did not end at graduation. Former students described values that continued with them into adulthood – influencing their relationships, their work, their faith, and the way they approached the world around them.
That enduring connection could be felt throughout the gathering. Conversations moved easily between old memories and the present, showing how a school experience from decades ago can remain part of a person’s story. What began as shared years at Assumption Prep grew into lifelong friendships and a lasting bond with the wider Assumptionist community.
The Legacy Continues
A reunion naturally brings nostalgia, but this gathering also revealed something deeper: legacy is carried by people. It lives in the stories alumni continue to tell, in the friendships they preserve, in the faith they carry forward, and in the values they pass on to others.
More than five decades later, Assumption Prep remains meaningful not simply because of a building or a moment in history, but because of the lives shaped within it. The classrooms belong to another era, yet the spirit behind them continues through the men who once called Assumption Prep their school. Friendship. Faith. Community. Service.
