The Diary of the 137th Annual Novena to St. Anne
St. Anne Shrine – Fiskdale
Administrated by the Assumptionist
Our pastor, Assumptionist, Father Luc Martel A.A. was the main celebrant. He was joined by Assumptionist, Father John Franck, A.A. and Deacon Rev. Mr. Keith Caplette, both from our parish, as well.
The Rosary using Luminous Mysteries were said in English by lay Assumpionist, Deb Becroft and parishioner, Ryan Link.
Tonight’s readings in English were read by lay Assumptionist, Mark King.
Father Luc reflected on today’s Gospel, Matthew 20:20-28, which tells the story of two of the Apostles, James and John, the sons of Zebedee and their mother’s request that her sons should sit at the right and left of Jesus. Jesus replied “You do not know what you are asking.” He continued by saying “Whoever wishes to be greater among you shall be your servant; whoever wants to be first among you shall be your slave”. Jesus ended by saying “…The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Father Luc also continued the theme of “a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist” and “My flesh for the life of the world.” and what this all means. He also took us on a thoughtful review of the history of the way communion has been offered for the past 2,000 plus years and how we have returned to be able receive communion in both forms. We must accept Christ’s invitation to all of us to “Take and eat My body and to Take and drink My blood.”
