2nd Night of the Novena to Saint Anne

The second night of the Novena to Saint Anne welcomed back Father Alex Castro, A.A. to the Parish, where he was Pastor from 2018 to 2023.  The Filipino Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Boston & the Filipino community from Saint John’s Church in Worcester joined in the celebration of the Novena Mass.  Concelebrating the Mass with Father Alex was Father Lito Amande, a Filipino serving in the US Army.  The congregation included Assumptionists from Brighton, including Father Rodel Cervantes, A.A., who sing with the Boston Choir.

Father Alex’s homily began with talking about how the theme of our Novena relates perfectly to the Eucharistic Congress currently taking place with 50,000 in Indiana.  They are gathered for the same reason that we are, because of His flesh and that light that He gives each of us.  It is a gift to be brought together. The topic of Father Alex’s Homily was Sabbath and Food, which tied into today’s Gospel reading, Matthew 12: 1-8. Putting the two together is what God desires, because we are nourished with what we need, but more importantly, He nourishes us with strength and mercy.  The food that Christ gives is greater than any feast and nourishes our spirit.

Were you nourished by the food from Jesus Christ, Father asked.  Join the feast! Father closed his homily in prayer with the spirit of the Eucharistic Congress, a prayer that our lives are Eucharistic to others because of the Christ that strengths all of us.

Good St. Anne – Pray for us!
