On our seventh day in Rome, we went to a French Mass in San Luigi deli Frances, where the Calling of Saint Matthew by Caravaggio is located. I have been wanting to see this for a long time, and I am glad I had the opportunity to see it. This painting depicts the moment at which Jesus Christ inspires Matthew to follow him. I spent some time reflecting on this painting, and it once again moved me.

This painting reminds me of the conversion experience I had before joining the Assumptionists. Like Matthew, Christ unexpectedly broke into my life, and I realized Christ really desired me. All I could say was “Here I am, Lord.”

In the afternoon, we saw the Colosseum, another unforgettable moment. This was our last full day in Rome. All of us were sad, but, at the same time, we felt truly blessed, because we received so many graces.
